Prayer for Vocations and the LMI
Lord Jesus Christ, You have gathered around you, chosen men to be witnesses to Your life, of love of the Father, service to Your people and obedience even ’till death on a Cross (Phil 2:8) and to be the heralds of Your Gospel of Reconciliation and Salvation meant for all peoples of all times and places. We pray You, Lord of the Harvest, to continue sending laborers into your vineyard for “indeed the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few (Mt. 9:37). Inspire in the hearts of young men the desire to follow you who are “the light of the world” (Jn 8:12) “the Way, the Truth and the Life” (Jn 14:6). Instill in them the determination to serve others just as You have come not be served, but to serve, and to give Your life in ransom” (Mk 10:45) for us all. Deepen the faith in them that the best way to find happiness of life is by losing life for you and your people. (Mt 16:25)
We pray especially for young men with the generosity of heart, the dedication to serve with enthusiasm and the patience in spirit to bring Your Good News, particularly to the Chinese communities in our country, the Philippines, and all over the world. We likewise pray for the families, the guardians and friends of those whom you call to serve you. May each one of them serve as a pillar of support and encouragement to the vocation of these men. May they realize that Your heavenly Father’s business (Luke 2:49) precedes our earthly father’s concerns, no matter how appealing and wise they may seem. May we all learn the truth that the quest for life and glory is ultimately attained in our readiness to die to ourselves (Jn 12:24-25) and offer our lives to God, Your Father and our Father. (Jn 20:17)
We pray for our home of formation, the Lorenzo Mission Institute, for our benefactors and friends and for those whom you have chosen to join our family now and in the future. Amen.
