Lorenzo Mission Institute

The Lorenzo Mission Institute is the home of formation of the Lorenzo Ruiz Mission Society

The exigency of missionary priests who would focus on the Filipino-Chinese Apostolate, missio ad gentes, and missio inter gentes especially in the Asian region is both a reality and an urgency. John Paul II and Jaime Cardinal L. Sin, D.D. were great inspirations to the local church in the Philippines to face courageously the call for missionaries in this particular demand. Likewise, the entire local church in the Philippines acknowledged this great need for vocations and formation of seminarians for a new path of mission while the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines, which was convened in 1991 indicated the support that is needed for the Apostolate. The Lorenzo Mission Institute, which is seated at the Archdiocese of Manila, became a concrete response to the call for mission ad gentes.

Lorenzo Ruiz Mission Society

The Lorenzo Ruiz Mission Society is a Pious Union of Clerics of the Archdiocese of Manila

Founded in 1997 with the initial seven members, the Lorenzo Ruiz Mission Society became a collective group of missionaries to respond immediately to the importunity and urgency of local mission workers and missionaries beyond the Philippine shores especially where they are needed most. The generosity of seminarians and priests is indeed remarkable that contributed to the emergence of this society which envisions to assist local churches and work at the frontiers of mission. At present, priest members are now assigned in Hsinchu and Taipei, Taiwan and in the Filipino-Chinese parishes and schools in the Philippines.

Vision and Mission

LMI and LRMS envision to respond to the call of the Lord to go and proclaim the Gospel to all creation.

LMI- With the help of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of our Blessed Mother and St. Lorenzo Ruiz, we respond to the call of God the Father to build a Christ-centered home of formation for the missionary priests of the Archdiocese of Manila in the work of sharing the treasures of the Faith to the Chinese communities and abroad.

LRMS- We embrace a preferential apostolic option in favor of the Chinese, the Chinese-Filipino and other communities of Chinese heritage in order that together we may more manifestly live gratefully for God, serve faithfully His Church, lead and be among other people joyfully in the journey towards the Kingdom that all may have the fullness of life in Jesus Christ.In loving and joyful obedience to the command of the Lord Jesus Christ, “Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you” (Mt 28:19-20), we commit ourselves

 -to freely and generously share for the glory of God and the salvation of men and women what we freely and generously received (Mt 10:8) – our selves, our faith and our blessings;

 -to an intimate solidarity with the fundamental missionary dimension of the Church, an auxiliary apostolate with the Hierarchy in its missionary solicitude, and an ecclesial collaboration with all missionary Institutes and Movements among God’s people;

 -to proclaim the Gospel in de jure and de facto mission territories;

 -to assist in sustaining the Faith already professed in young Churches, or to promote its growth among believers in already self-reliant Churches;
